Hey ya'll!

For all our fans and readers of this webpage - we will be changing our web page host and our format shortly.  We may experience some downtime as we make this transition.  If the web page is down, please return frequently as we will be getting the new web site up as soon as possible.  The website address www.highryder.net will remain the same. 

Last weekend was fairly busy.  Friday night we played at the Normalville Firemen’s Fair.  Everything was okay until the sky opened up shortly after ten.  A wet ride home but a good crowd and lots of friends.

On Saturday we returned to Dawson for their Homecoming.  A little wet at times but dry under the tent.  As always, good food, good friends and a great fireworks show. 

The remainder of June is quiet, but things pick up in July.  Hope to see you at one of the many venues we’ll be playing. 

As warmer weather arrives we hope to see you at one of the many outdoor venues during our summer concert series.  Keep coming back to the web page for schedule changes.

What sets the High Ryder band apart from other bands?  Well, we’re not pretty (obviously) and we’re not young (unfortunately).  We don’t have screaming teenagers hanging on our every word.  We don’t put on fancy stage shows (Roy refuses to climb on anything while he plays the fiddle.)  We’re not into pyrotechnics or laser shows.  We don’t blast out eardrums with super-powerful electronic gear.  What we do offer is music, resulting from a combined experience of more than 200 years.   While most of our contemporaries have retired and quit the music business, we plug away, looking for that audience appreciation of the music we bring with us.  We’re definitely not in it for the money.  Dreams of stardom and worldwide fame faded away with the start of families and non-musical careers. As long as the audiences like what we’re doing - we’ll keep doing it.  And, as Roy puts it, we do have something that most bands don't - grandchildren.

If you haven't seen the band lately you're in for a big surprise. Everyone sings - which is rare in most bands these days. Our lead singer, Tommy Howell, offers a new line-up of songs and the vast songlists of Roy, Bup and Jim, together with the classic rock tunes that Bob sings guarantee that you'll never hear the same show twice. We're really proud of our three-part harmony and Roy's fiddle playing has improved so much that he is no longer threatened by other band members. Come out and see us soon.
